Birthday extravaganza

Yesterday was a big day. The mythical Uncle Jon arrived in Newburyport and helped Oliver celebrate his 4 week birthday.

We celebrated by going for a walk on the beach...
Which was super fun until the crazy banana found some old bait, or something equally gross and decided to roll in it...

Ewww. It was a long ride home.

The good news was there was a big ice cream cake waiting for Oliver.

Oliver managed to fall asleep before blowing out the candles. Jon, Davis and I did a pretty good job on the cake though -- We think there must have been a typo on the Carvel box -- "feeds 15-20" seems a bit off -- our assessment is that it should read "feeds 1-5."

The annual Plum Island Boogie took place on Saturday and Davis was able to make a couple of jumps. Here is a video he took of one of his jumps (his 806th jump in fact)-- as you can see, the visibility was amazing. Davis said he could see up to Portland, Maine and down past Cape Ann.

Anna and the Lady Killer

Before Oliver was born we used to take daily walks on the beach with Anna. Greenheads (huge, horrible, biting flies in case you aren't familiar with them) have, until recently, prevented Oliver and I from joining Davis and Anna. Now that the greenheads are starting to leave Oliver and I have starting joining Davis and Anna. As you can see from the picture - even if a few greenheads remain, it is pretty unlikely they will get to Oliver (yup, that is Oliver tucked in the wrap Davis is wearing).

Yesterday, after a walk we went to the Greek food festival here in Newburyport. Davis dressed Oliver in his "lady killer" outfit for the outing.


Oliver was pretty tired by the end of the day, and happily fell asleep on his dad.


Anna has been getting a bit jealous of all the pictures of Oliver that are being posted, so we promised her we'd share a few of her pictures with you.

3 weeks

Oliver turned three weeks old yesterday. As a three week old Oliver has developed a few favorite activities -- eating (as of Monday he was up to 9 pounds 6 ounces), sleeping (during the day), going for walks (if you see someone walking around Newburyport with a baby at 2 AM it's probably Davis - as Davis says - "mild mannered scientist by day, baby whisperer by night"), and being held. We also think he is starting to become as addicted to the show "Weeds" as his parents -- we've made it through the first two seasons in the past week.

2 weeks

Wednesday was Oliver's two week birthday. Being two weeks old has allowed Oliver to do things he hadn't before - taking a bath...

We also went on a walk in Maudsley State Park. Oliver says thanks again to his Uncle Tim and Aunt Carolyn for the stroller.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was a big day. It was Davis' birthday so we headed to Hampton Beach so Davis could catch some waves with his new surf board.


Oliver then helped Davis blow out his birthday candle.

Davis is already trying to impose his fashion sense on Oliver.

Early Bird

Oliver Winston joined our little family on July 2nd - exactly one week early. Despite being early he was 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. We are all doing well.

Here are a few pictures of the little guy.





Perhaps Oliver's early arrival arrival was prompted by the little project we did a couple days before his birth -- new basement stairs. Good thing the tool belt has an adjustable waist!
